Q. What is your first computer or video gaming memory? (Answer!)
A. 1st computer: TRS-80 CoCo from Radio Shack!<br>1st Video Game: Atari 2600 Console System and games on the TRS-80. I had 33 games for that Atari and I whipped butt on every kid in the neighborhood. I was especially good at Pitfall Harry and Circus Atari.
Q. What music do you like to play games to? (Answer!)
A. DISCO! Love me some DISCO! 24/7 Wall to Wall DISCO!
Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. Sci-Fi MMO. I could go futuristic or even apocalyptic throwback with some technological leftovers; I'm not picky. (Read: Thundarr the Barbarian cartoon series.) I'm sick of the dwarves/elves junk. Let's see robots and time warps and crashed spaceships and laserwhips and mutant radioactive cyberpunks. C'mon! Get with the future!
A. Why isn't there a multiclass option?
Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. I'm 100% in character when playing and I usually develop an extensive background story for my characters as well as a set of personality traits, some of which can be quite severe.
Q. Are you interested in working within the game industry? (Answer!)
Q. Do you feel relationships within games are meaningful? (Answer!)
A. No. How can you develop any sort of relationship without meeting a person face-to-face and having a conversation with that person? There's a lot to be said about body language and personal intuition. I think you'll get more information about a person from seeing that stuff yourself.
Q. What experience do you have beta-testing games? (Answer!)
A. Listed on my personal page.
Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. Always female (cos I'm a girl), unless there's a gender restriction, and usually with some physical flaw. If I can't get that trait, then I give them a personality flaw.
Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
A. I haven't played since the early 90s. I was hot and heavy into AD&D back in the 80s. Played some Shadowrun in the 90s. Watched a Warhammer campaign in the 90s, but never got into it. Still a big fan of pen and paper D&D.
Q. What are your thoughts on player-made mods/addons for games? (Answer!)
A. Some of them can be extremely helpful! Players know what is useful in game and what isn't; therefore, they know what should be put on a skin and what shouldn't. Some of these ornate ones look pretty, but the functionality is questionable.
Q. What sort of tools (calculators, builders, spreadsheets, etc.) do you use to plan your characters? (Answer!)
A. 100% pure imagination with some pulls from my own life/experiences.
Q. Have you ever had a memorable real-life meeting with other gamers? (Answer!)
A. Yes and we don't speak now at all, ever. After the meeting, nary one typed word was exchanged between us again, nor a spoken one. Thusly, it shall not happen again.
Q. How do you feel about playing characters of the opposite sex? (Answer!)
A. It only happens if there is a gender restriction. I feel most people do it in order to garner favors or free goodies from other players. It's all about what they can get for free vs. what they have to actually work for.
Q. When you are not playing games, what do you do for fun? (Answer!)
A. Ice hockey, Roller Hockey, play with my children/fiance, collect currency-foreign and domestic, collect comic books, workout at the Y, read, catch a few movies, watch football/hockey on TV
A. No, I feel voice chat detracts from the game
Q. If you could bring any book, movie or comic to life in a game, which would you choose? (Answer!)
A. Be more specific: are you talking MMOs, RPGs, FPSs, plain old PC games or console games? And you left off TV shows because that would open the door for my favorite show of all time to be made into a game and that would make me the happiest camper on the planet.
Q. If you could cancel any online game, which would it be? (Answer!)
A. Star Wars Galaxies. They destroyed a system where people had to WORK to make the title of Jedi mean something into a worthless word to those of us who actually went through the trials. The developers caved to the lazy jerks who refused to put in the time and effort the rest of us did to make Jedi special. I quit the game after that and the combat changes.
Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. When Lion's Pride was listed as the number one guild on Nimue with the most members, most realm points and was actually considered a respected guild on the server. Making level 50 with Enya and Layse.
Q. Have you ever had a romantic encounter with someone you met in a game? (Answer!)
A. No. My fiance plays computer games with me.
Q. In real life, are you male or female? (Answer!)
Q. When do you play, including timezone? (Answer!)
A. Whenever I'm able. Eastern Time.
Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. mutual gaming benefits, friendships, to dominate the server we're on, but most importantly because my fiance is the guild leader!
Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. If I'm too darned lazy, unskilled, don't have the friends to back me up, or am just not the required level, why shouldn't those who can do it sell those items they collect? As an American I firmly embrace the entrepreneurial spirit. They fill a niche and people are willing to pay for the service they render.
Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
A. A variety of places including the most dangerous and twisted: my mind.
Q. Do your quiz results on GamerDNA reflect your personality, and if not, what did it get wrong? (Answer!)
A. Probably right, I don't even remember it.
Q. How many hours a week do you play? (Answer!)
